Federal workers’ compensation cases pending before the United States Department of Labor
Who is Gay H. Snyder, Esq?
I was born in Brooklyn, New York to a working class family. I attended New York City public schools.
I have been a practicing attorney for more than 40 years. After graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in 1980, I became a member of the New York State Bar and clerked for an administrative law judge at the U.S. Department of Labor, and handled workers’ compensation cases.
As much as I loved my work, I decided to leave Washington, DC to return to NYC. I worked as a staff attorney for the American Federation of Government Employees, one of the largest unions representing federal employees. As a staff attorney I was responsible for representing the interests of employees and more than 20 locals in New York, New Jersey, and New England. I handled a variety of matters including grievances, arbitrations, appeals to the MSPB, discrimination claims, unfair labor practice claims, matters in federal District Courts, constitutional issues and appeals to various Court of Appeal.
In 1984 I left AFGE and spent several years working for law firms located in the Wall Street area, engaging in various forms of personal injury and property damage litigation.
In 1996, I left the law firm life to start my own practice. In recent years I primarily represent federal employees before the U.S. Department of Labor OWCP.
